We hear it allll the time "Show up for the person you’re trying to be.” *INSERT EYE ROLL HERE*
Like, ok -- Cool, but like...HOW!?
You know it.
I know it.
It’s time to show up for yourself & deep down you know you’re as ready as ever.
In fact, you've been feeling this brewing need inside you to do better for yourself, but every time you go to take action, you get overwhelmed and stop soon after starting.
Well, you don't always have to fall short and there is a way to show up for yourself that isn't as grueling as it may seem.
I break it down for some of my clients in 5️⃣ simple steps:
1️⃣ COMMIT to practices, rituals and routines that are nurturing and good for you well-being — even when you don’t want to. Yes, that means you have to work on your discipline. I recommend the 3-2-1 Method. Wherever you are and whatever you're doing to procrastinate, count down from 3,2,1 and then get up and do the damn thing. It's that simple. And it works.
2️⃣ ALLOW yourself to feel instead of bottling up. Your emotions are valid & no matter what they are, you don’t need to label them. You're upset? Ok, feel that and don't label it as a "bad" or "weak" moment. Soak it up. Feel it out. And then move on. It's so much easier to move on when you don't have unfelt emotions holding you down.
3️⃣ FORGIVE yourself & practice self-forgiveness often. Forgive yourself for making mistakes, for the past, for not being perfect and falling off track at times. Reminder than you're only human and humans only learn from the flaws of our humanness. That's how we grow!
4️⃣ LISTEN to yourself & get in tune with your basic needs. Then start to take care of those needs — like 8 hours of sleep sleep, moving your body daily, spending time alone, what-have-you. Getting in tune with those needs is going to propel your self-awareness further and help you set boundaries clearer.
5️⃣ REMIND yourself that you are just as worthy of being shown up for as anyone else. Make yourself a priority.
Working on healing the relationship you have with yourself is a beautiful and trying process and it isn't going to be a breeze overnight. It takes commitment and it takes effort.
But you just have to START.
Take small steps each day towards your better self, even if it’s just one, baby step in the right direction!
GOOD LUCK! And as always my email and Instagram DM is available if you ever would like to connect.
